Answer by houstong(1)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+x+1 = 17
x+x+1-17 = 0
x+x-16 = 0
2x-16 = 0
1/2 (2x - 16) = 0
x - 8 = 0
x = 8
so 8+8+1 = 17
