the "opposite" is the additive inverse or negative of

let x=number ... x-(-x)=150 ... 2x=150 ... x=75

75 is 150 greater than -75

"Its opposite" could mean its negative:

EQUATION:
x -(-x) = 150
2x = 150
x = 75 whichis 150 more than -75
