Question 1036703: Recently a publishing company which specializes in mathematical books advertised the job openings of an assistant editor. The response was good. 100 people applied for the position. The company however wanted to make their selection from the applicants who had some training in both maths and literature. Out of 100 applicants the company found that 10 of them had no training in literature and no training in maths, 70 of them had got mathematical training and 82 had got training in literature. How many applicants had got training in both literature and maths?

10 applicants had neither training. Out of the remaining 90, 70 had math training, which means 20 didn't. 82 had literature training, so 8 did not. This gives a total of 28 who had one kind of training, but not the other. This leaves 90-28, or 62 who had both kinds of training!!!!!!!!!!!!
