Question 135383: State the solution set of the inequality 2x + 3 >1 in interval notation. 2x + 3 > 1 2x + 3 - 3 > 1 -3 2x > -2 2x > -2/2 divide both sides by 2 2 x = -1 now I have to put that in interval notation x > -1 (x, -1] Is my interval notation right? Question 135933: Please help!!! What is the difference between domain and range? Describe a real-life situation that could be modeled by a function. Describe the values for x that may not be appropriate values. A function could, for example, indicate the amount of bone strength (y) in a living human body over time in years (x). It would not make sense to look at negative years, because the person would not yet be born. Likewise, looking beyond 100 years might not make sense as many people do not live to be 100. This is way over my head. Help.... Click here to see answer by stanbon(57967)

Question 135936: I do not understand how to set up this equation. A consumer electronics company sells 6.7 million MP3 players per month at a price of \$100 a piece; when the price is lowered to \$80, the company sells 10.2 million players per month. How many MP3 players can the company expect to sell per month at a price of \$75? Thank you!! Click here to see answer by stanbon(57967)

Question 135958: My question comes from the pre-calculus CLEP study guide from collegeboard.com. It is an Algebra problem and a graph, but I am unable to paste the graph into this box. Here is the question and a verbal explanation of the graph. I can send it to an email address if that is a possibility. The figure above shows the complete graphs of the functions f and g. Based on the graphs, the equation f(x) - g(x) = 0 has how many roots? The graph is on a cartesian plane. The y=f(x) graph is a slope with a y-intercept of about 2 and an x intercept of about -4, and is upward sloping to the right. The y=g(x) is a curvy graph. Please excuse my description, I am unaware of the actual graphing equation used for it so bare with me. It begins down at -4,-4 curves upward and hits a mzxima at around 1,3 curves back down to a minima of 3,-2 curves back upward to a maxima of about 5,1, and then makes a final curve down to a stopping point at about 7,-3. My question is: what is the process for finding these roots when there are no numbers to guide you. What do plug in, or utilize to find the answer? I am stuck on this one, and it is the first question on the study guide. There was a similar question on the College Algebra CLEP study guide. Thank you for all of your help. If you need me to email you the graph, please send me a link of where I can send it. Thanks again.

 Question 135957: I am looking for feedback as to whether this was done correctly. Find an equation in slope-intercept form passing through the points (2,5) and (7,-3). m = -3 - 5/7 – 2 = -8/5 5 = -8/7 (2) + b 35 = 16 – 7b 35 + 16 = (7b – 16) + 16 51 = 7b – 16 + 16 51 = 7b 51/7 = b y = -8/5x – 51/7 Thanks!
