I am confronted with the following problem:
"Where does the graph of y = 2 + 2^x cross the y-axis?"
Is there a way of solving this without graphing the function?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
-Mike

Question 6672: can you help me solve this equation?
I am trying to solve a system of linear quations by the substitution method.
6x - 4y = 3
3x - 2y = 9
I need to see how you worked the solution so that I can make sure that I am doing it right and can do the rest of the problems on my own.
Thank you!!!

Question 6882: I would like it if someone could show me step by step with an explaination on how to solve this type of problem. I keep getting the wrong answer. "Find the slope of a straight line that passes through the given pair of points". (3/4,-4) and (2,-8)... What I have been doing is this
y2, y1 = -8--4 = -4
_______ _____ __
x2, x1 = 2-3/4 = 2 1/4 = 9/4
The book says the answer is -16/5
What am I doing wrong?

Question 7176: Hello, My name is Johnny. Can someone help me with graphs?
I really, really don't understand how to do them. I need help. I brought some examples of the type of stuff where doing, but I don't know where to begin, my teacher goes so fast you can't really understand what he is saying.
1. y = 2x
2. y = -2x + 1
3. y = 3x - 2
4. y = xsquared - 4
Please, I really need your help.

My name is D'Angelo. I was wondering can someone help me understand graphs/equations?
In my math class we are on this section in the book where its talking about graphs, and how to do equations. But, I don't understand because my teacher talks to fast, and you can bearly understand what she is saying so someone please help me.
I brought an example of what where doing, but I don't know how to do them.

Question 7198: hi how are you doing today? well im stuck on this one promblem. the directions say, "Find the slope of each equation." and the equation is 2x+3y+32=0. now what i tried to do was get the y and x intercepts and some how put them in this form>>>(x,y) (x2,y2) so that i can use the slope formula m=y2-y1/(that means over)x2-x1. thank you so much for your help and i hope i didnt confuse you in anything and if i did then let me know and i'll try to clarify it. thanks again

Question 7212: ok here is a question that is troubling me. the directions say "determine the value of "r" so that a line through the points with the given coordinates has the given slope. draw a sketch of each situation" now about this sketch thing i dont think i need help on that you dont got to worry about that. but here is the problem. (5,r), (2,3); slope=2. thank you for taking the time to help me.

Question 7296: here is another question i have. the directions say, "write an equation in slope-intercept form that satisfies each condition." and here is a problem. "slope=-0.5, passes through (2,-3)". i know that the answer will have something like this= y=-0.5x because the slope is given so thats next to the "x". but whats with the rest? thank you so much whoever gets to answer.
