Question 987839: What does y<-1/3x+2 look like on a graph
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Step 1) Graph the line y = (-1/3)x + 2. This line goes through (0,2) and (3,-1) and (6,0). You find these points by plugging in x = 0 to get y = 2, and plugging in x = 3 to get y = -1, etc etc.

Step 2) Draw a straight line through these points. Extend the line infinitely in both directions. Make this line a dashed line. It's dashed because there is no line under the < sign. We are excluding the boundary.

Step 3) Shade below the dashed line. We do so below because of the < sign (less than sign). The shaded region is in blue. The boundary line is a bit covered up and is in green. Again make sure the boundary line is a dashed line.
