Question 98625: In my study booklet a problem has been graphed and I am to say which one of the answers below describes the equation. I've chosen answer "b" but have no clue if it is the correct answer. Is there a way that you could possibly graph each of the answers below in order for me to see if I have made the correct decision and I also want to under the logic behind the answer. Thank you.
Which equation is graphed?
a. y=-x^2+2x-1
b. x=-y^2+2y-1
c. y=x^2-2x+1
d. x=y^2-2y+1

This is a parabola opening downward
------------
b. x=-y^2+2y-1
This is a parabola opening to the left

c. y=x^2-2x+1
This is a parabola opening upward

y = x^2 version is a vertical parabola.
x = y^2 version is a horizontal parabola
For: y = ax^2 or x = ay^2
a is negative ... the parabola goes left or down
a is positive ... the parabola goes right or up
................
Graph (b) describes a horizontal parabola going left
