A recipe asks for 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. A second recipe asks for 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and the third one asks for 1/8 teaspoon vanilla. How much vanilla is needed in all three recipes.

Put all three amounts over the same denominator:
We know that:
1/4 = 2/8
and
1/2 = 4/8

Easy to add now:
