Question 947646: What would 5 characteristics of this sinusoidal graph be?
y = 5 sin [3(x-2)] - 1
This is what I've figured out; but I want to be sure that I am correct.
Midline is at y=1
Amplitude=5
Maximum=1+5=6
Minimum=1-5=(-4)
And the period I have no idea what it is.

A sinusoid is the name given to any curve that can be written in the form
................( and are positive).
|| =
= cycles from to
= vertical shift (or displacement)
= horizontal shift (sometimes called "phase shift" when )
you have
so,
|| = (amplitude)
(cycles from to )
vertical shift (or displacement unit )
( horizontal shift, units )
max} = at for integer
min{ } = at for integer
