Question 91306: I'm struggling at graphing this equation. This would help me a lot. Thanks.
Problem: x+2y+5=0

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+2y+5=0
Solve the equation for y:
2y = -x - 5
y = (-1/2)x - (5/2)
----------
Plot two points then draw a line thru them, as follows:
If x = 0 then y = 5/2 giving you point (0,5/2)
If x = 3 then y = (-1/2)*3 - (5/2) = -8/2 = -4 giving you point (3,-4)
-----------------------
