Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What made you think it was (-1.-3) in the first place?
-3x + 6y = -6
x - 2y = 2
Put in 0 for x then solve for y
-3*0 + 6y = -6
6y = -6
x=0 y=-1
Put in 0 for y then solve for x
-3x + 6*0 = -6
-3x = -6
x=2 y=0
ok now you have two points for the first equation . Plot them on a graph
Do the same for the second equation
x - 2y = 2
let x=0 and solve for y
0 - 2y = 2
- 2y = 2
x=0 y=-1
let y=0 and solve for x
x - 2y = 2
x - 2*0 = 2
x = 2 y=0
now you have two points for the second equation plot them on a graph and see where the two lines cross
-3x + 6y = -6
x - 2y = 2
to solve using algebra
multiply the second by 3
x - 2y = 2
3x-6y=6
-3x + 6y = -6
add
0=0
They are the same line so they intersect at an infinite number of points
