Question 886390: f(x) = | x − 2 | is my function. How do I show it being shifted three units upward and four units to the left. My directions state to rewrite the equation to incorporate those numbers. I am not sure how to shift with absolute values. Thank you for any help.

your equation is |x-2|
you want to shift it 3 units up and 4 units to the left.
if you just add 3 to the end of the equation, that will shift it up 3 units.
you will get |x-2| + 3
if you want to shift it to the left 4 units, then you have to add 4 units to the x.
you will get |x+2| + 3 as your final equation.
