graph the line. 4x+3y+9=0
what I have been getting.. but is incorrect...
3y+9=0-4x
3y=0-4x-3y **** don't subtract 3y from the right side. Where's the 9?
y=-4 over 3 x
===================
4x+3y+9=0
If you want to solve for y:
3y = -4x - 9
y = (-4/3)x - 3
------------
To graph it, you need 2 points.
Pick 2 values for x and find y.
I would use multiples of 3 for x to avoid fractions.
x = 3 --> y = -7 (3,-7)
x =-3 --> y = 1 (-3,1)
Plot the 2 points, draw a line thru them.
Answer by waynest(281) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x + 3y + 9 = 0
4x - 4x + 3y + 9 - 9 = -4x - 9
3y = -4x - 9
3y/3 = -4x/3 - 9/3
y = (-4/3)x -3
x = all real numbers
y = all real numbers
