Any equation of the form is a vertical line. Any line perpendicular to a vertical line is a horizontal line. Horizontal lines have the characteristic that every point on the line has exactly the same -coordinate. Since the desired line passes through , which has a -coordinate of 7, every point on the line must have a -coordinate equal to 7. The slope of a horizontal line is 0. The -intercept must, since it is also on the line, have a -coordinate of 7, hence the -intercept is the point . Write a slope-intercept equation where the slope is 0 and the -coordinate of the -intercept is 7.
