Question 733908: what steps do I use to solve {y=1/2x
{y=-x+3 helping my 9th grader and am totally lost thanks

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=1/2x
y=-x+3
------------
Since they both equal y,
x/2 = -x + 3
Multiply by 2 to eliminate fractions
x = -2x + 6
Add 2x
3x = 6
Divide by 3
x = 2
-----------
y = x/2
y = 1
