Question 70775: how do you graph . 4x + y ≥ 4 and 3x -4y < 12
Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how do you graph . 4x + y ≥ 4 and 3x -4y < 12
----------
You solve each for y:
y>=-4x+4
y<(3/4)x+3
--------------
You then graph the EQualities:
If y=-4x+4 use points (0,4) and (1,0) to draw the solid line.
If y<(3/4)x+3 use points (0,1) and (4,4) to draw a dashed line.
These lines are the boundary lines of the half-planes which are
the graph of each INequality.
--------------
Since you want y>-4x+4 you darken the half-plane above the solid line y=-4x=4
------------
Since you wnat y<(3/4)x+3 you darken the half-plane below the dashed line
y=(3/4)x+3
-----------
I can't tell from your post if you are asking to graph two separate problems
or is you want the AND (intersection) of the two graphs.
You will have to decide.
Cheers,
Stan H.
