Solve by graphing the the system.
4x + 2y = 10
y = 4

You have two equations that tell you something about x and y.
The graph of 4x+2y = 10 is determined by two points:
Let x=0, then y=5, giving you point (0,5)
Let y=0, then x=(5/2), giving you (2.5,0)
Plot these points and draw a line thru them.

The graph of y=4 is determined by two points:
Let x=0, then y=4, giving you point (0,4)
Let x=2, then y=4,giving you point (2,4)
Plot these points and draw a line thru them.

Try to determine where these lines meet.
The answer should be (1/2,4)
