If you graph the equation you posted you would see a line.
One of the points on that line is (0,2)
To graph that point put your pencil at the point
where the horizonal axis crosses the vertical axis.
That is the point (0,0); it is called "the origin".
Now move your pencil 2 up the vertical axis. You are now
at the point (0,2).
If you want to find the point (-2,5),
start at the origin, move 2 to the left,
then move 5 up. You end up at (-2,5).
