Question 64563: I am working on my exam review and forgot how to graph
y=│x+2│-5

Answer by 303795(602)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The graph of y=|x+2| will have a value of 0 at -2. It has a slope of one if x is greater than -2. It will have a slope of -1 (going upwards) if x is less than -2. (It looks like it has been reflected when it hits the x axis at -2)
The graph y=|x+2|-5 will shift the whole graph down 5 places so it now has a value of -5 at -2 with the same slope of 1 for x greater than -2 and -1 for x less than -2.
