Question 642598: how do I solve and graph the following problem?
4x+2y=9
I began by inserting a zero to each of the axis:
4x+2(0)=9
4x=9
x=2 1/4
4(0)+2y=9
y=8 1/2
Am I correct in the method I chosed? thank you.

how do I solve and graph the following problem?
4x+2y=9
I began by inserting a zero to each of the axis:
4x+2(0)=9
4x=9
x=2 1/4
4(0)+2y=9
y=8 1/2
Am I correct in the method I chosed? thank you.
----------------
At y = 0, x = 9/4 (mixed numbers don't work well)
That's the x-intercept (9/4,0)
----
At y = 0, x = 17/2
That's the y-intercept (0,17/2)
You can plot those 2 points and draw a line thru them for the graph.
----
1 eqn and 2 variables has no unique solution. Every point on the line you draw is a solution.
