Choose the equation below that represents the line passing through the point (2, -4) with a slope of 1/2
.
Plug given information into the "point-slope" form:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - (-4) = (1/2)(x - 2)
y + 4 = (1/2)(x - 2)
y + 4 = (1/2)x - (1/2)2
y + 4 = (1/2)x - 1
y = (1/2)x - 1 - 4
y = (1/2)x - 5 (this is the equation in "slope-intercept" form)

Hi,
line passing through the point (2, -4) with a slope of 1/2
y = mx + b
y = (1/2)x + b || Using Pt(2,-4) to solve for b
-4 = 1 + b
-5 = b
y = (1/2)x -5
