For any linear equation in order to graph it, you need to have two ordered pairs in order to plot them and draw a line through them. That line represents the linear equation. In order to get two ordered pairs, you need to create two different values for x in order to solve for y. By the way, you need two points minimum because any two points determine a straight line. So for our first ordered pair, let's use x=0, then y=-2. If x=-2, then y=0. We have our two pairs, so plot them and draw a line and you get:
