One definition of slope is: "rise over run, which means how far does is rise or fall vertically, for a unit horizontally,
A slope of -3, it fell 3 units vertically for one unit horizontally
A slope of +2, it rose 2 units vertically for one unit horizontally

Obviously, -3 is steeper than +2
