I need to determine which two equations represent parallel lines.:
(a) y = 6x -5, (b) y = 6x + 5 (c) y = 6x + 2 or (d) y = - 1/6 x - 5
I sent you an email about this one. But I'll explain it again.
Parallel lines have equla slopes.
We can tell the slope of a line that is in slope intercept form by looking at the coefficient of x.
Slope intercept form is, where m=slope and (0,b)=y-intercept.
In (a)
the slope, m=6.
In (b)
the slope, m=6
In (c)
the slope, m=6
In (d)
the slope, m=-1/6

I was confused because you have three parallel lines instead of two. a, b, and c are all parallel, the only one that isn't is (d).
Take a look at their graphs, can you see what I mean?
