Question 545929: can you explain x and y intercepts for the problem x^2+4x-5

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y = x^2 + 4x - 5
The y-intercept is obtained when x=0:
Setting x=0 gives y = -5
To find the x-intercepts, factor the equation and set y=0
y = 0 = (x+5)(x-1)
From this we see that the equation is satisfied for x = -5, x = 1
