Question 54186: What is the equation for the line represented by this graph? (I don't know how to put a graph on here to show, so I will describe it. It is a straight line with arrows at each end going up from left to right, it passes through 2 on the x-axis and -1 on the y-axis)
My thought was that I would count so you go over 2 to the left, which would give me -2x and down 1 so that is -1. My answer would be y= -2x -1, but I am not sure I am doing it right. Can anyone help without seeing the graph?

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
YOU ARE PRESENTING TWO POINTS (2,0) (0,-1). NOW YOU CAN FIND THE SLOPE THUS
(-1-0)/0-2) OR -1/-2 OR 1/2 IS THE SLOPE NOW YOU HAVE THE EQUATION Y=1/2*X-1
