Distance formula between two points (x1,y1)and x2,y2)
where 1 and 2 as subcripts = |(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)|
So, the distance between (-7,7) and (2,-5)=|(-5-7)/(2-(-7)|=|-12/(2+7)|=
|-12/9|=12/9=4/3 units.
Note: |(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)| means modulus of the expression (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) is always positive whether the actual value is negative or positive.

How do I find the distance
of this problem?
I'm not sure how to start.

(-7,7) and (2,-5)

Use the formula
     _______________________
D = Ö(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2

which gives the distance D between the
two points

(x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

In your problem

(x1,y1) = (-7,7) and (x2,y2) = (2,-5)
     _____________________________
D = Ö[(2) - (-7)]2 + [(-5) - (7)]2
     ____________________
D = Ö[2 + 7]2 + [-5 - 7]2
     ___________
D = Ö92 + (-12)2
     ________
D = Ö81 + 144
     ___
D = Ö225

D = 15
