I have f(-3) = a^-3 = 8, a = 1/2 so f(x) = 1/2 ^-x...CORRECT
THEN (1,1) IS NOT A POINT ON IT ..
YOU HAVE DONE IT ALRIGHT.CHECK BACK THE PROBLEM
