Plot points

The first number in an ordered pair is the distance left (-) or right (+) from the origin (0,0). The second number in an ordered pair is down (-) or up (+) from the origin. For your first point, for example, go 1/2 unit right and 1 unit up.

Find the distance between two points

where where and are the coordinates of the given points.

Find the midpoint of the line segment joining the two points

Find the -coordinate of the midpoint:

Then find the -coordinate of the midpoint:

where where and are the coordinates of the given points.
