Question 473009: An overnight delivery service accepts packages of up to 165 inches in length and girth combined. (Girth is the distance around the package.) A package has a fixed girth of 53 inches. Determine (in terms of an inequality) those lengths for which a package is acceptable.
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Your equation is:
L + G <= 165
Since G = 53, then the equation becomes:
L + 53 <= 165
Subtract 35 from both sides of the equation to get:
L <= 165 - 53 which becomes:
L <= 112
That's your answer.
