Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=.1x^3+2x^2-x-3 "
Enter the equation after selecting "y=".
Select "ZOOM"
Select "Standard" to see the graph
Adjust the WINDOW by changing xmin to -25
so you can see all the graph.
Select "CALC"
Select "Zero"
Make the "Left Bound" x=-20.53
Select "Enter"
Make the "Right Bound" x=-20.15
Select "Enter"
Select "Enter" again
You should have a display that says x=-20.4178 and y=0
This is your 1st "ZERO".
--------------------------------
Select "CALC" again.
Move the cursor to x=-1.170213
Make this the "Left Bound".
Move the cursor to -.7978723 and make it the "Right Bound".
Select "Enter" twice to see the 2nd ZERO.
----------------------
Repeat the same process to find the 3rd ZERO.
Cheers,
Stan H.
