Question 459609: I'm 46 years old and working on refreshing my skills. How do I solve this using the substitution method?
3x+y=5
-2x+3y=4
Thanks
3x+y=5 ...(1)
-2x+3y=4 ...(2)
from eq(1)
y=5-3x
substituting the value of y in eq(2)
-2x+3(5-3x)=4
-2x+15-9x=4
-11x=-11
x=1
and hence y=5-3x=2
