y>x is an inequality, and its boundary line is y=x, which is the bisector of first and third quadrant.
y<-x is also an inequality, and its boundary line is y=-x, which is the bisector
of the second and fourth quadrant.
The solution set of y>x is the region above the line y=x, and the solution set of
y<-x is the region below the line y=-x.
