Question 43665: Find the point on the positive y-axis that is a distance 5 from the point
P(3,4). Thank you

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
THE POINT(3,4) FORMS A RIGHT TRIANGLE OR MEASUREMENT 3 & 4 SO WE FIND THE HYPOTENUCE WHICH IS 3~2+4~2=H~2 OR 9+16=H~2 OR 25=H~2 OR 5=H WHICH COINCIDES WITH THE POINTS (0,0) OR (0,8)
MANY OF THE GRAPHIC PROBLEMS ARE MORE EASILY SOLVED BY A GRAPH RATHER THAN MATHEMATICALLY.
YOUR QUESTION ASKED FOR THE INTERCEPT ON THE POSITIVE Y AXIS WHICH IS WHAT I GAVE YOU.
HOWEVER I MADE A SMALL MISTAKE THE SECOND POINT SHOULD HAVE BEEN (0,8)
SORRY ABOUT THE WRONG ANSWER.
KEEP TRYING & YOU'LL GET THEM ALL RIGHT.
