1 x + -1 y = -5 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by 1
Multiply (2) by 1
1 x + 1 y = 9
1 x + -1 y = -5
Add the two equations
2 x = 4
/ 2
x = 2
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + 1 y = 9
2 + 1 y = 9
1 y = 9-2
1 y = 7
y = 7
Find the x & y intercepts of the two lines. Plot the points. Draw the lines. The point of intersection is the solution
