SOLUTION: I have been given a single line graph that essentially states -12 > x <= 4 (line graph is drawn)
The question then is: which inequality illustrates the graph.
a. -3x+4>=-8

Question 430746: I have been given a single line graph that essentially states -12 > x <= 4 (line graph is drawn)
The question then is: which inequality illustrates the graph.
a. -3x+4>=-8
b. 3x-4>=8
c. -3x-4>=8
d. none of these
Explanation of how to solve these would help greatly. I am trying to help my niece with an online class (without a book or study guide) and it has obviously been a while since I performed these types of things.
Thanks

I have been given a single line graph that essentially states -12 > x <= 4 (line graph is drawn)

Comment: -12 > x <=4 is a meaningless inequality.
It says -12 is greater than 4; that is not true.
Did you post the problem correctly?
Maybe you meant -12 < x <=4.
---
If you did you would proceed as follows:
Multiply thru by 3 to get:
-36 < 3x <= 12
Subtracting 4 you would get:
-40 < 3x-4 <= 8

But none of the answers below says that.
