x+3y=6 OR y = (-1/3)x + 2


y = (-1/3)x + 2 | slope m = -1/3 and y-intercept is Pt(0,2)
m = -1/3: as y increases/decreases by 1, x increases/decreases by 3 in opposite direction.
due to the equal sign, the graph is a Line..doesn't call for shading

If you are shading, you have an inequality.

Let's assume you have x+3y < 6.

Then y < (-x/3) + 2

Notice: No inequality is graphed directly.
You 1st must graph the boundary, which is
always an equality.
So, for your problem you should graph
y EQUALS (-x/3)+2 as a dashed line; dashed
because that boundary is not part of the
solution.

Then, since you want y LESS than (-x/3)+2
you should shade the half plane BELOW
the boundary to get:
