Question 387361: When Joanne gets a massage, at 6:00 am her heart rate is 81 beats per minute. At 6:30 am her heart rate slows to 63 beats per minute. Find the rate of change in her heart rate.
Answer by anomis(18) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(0,81), (30,63) where 0 is the starting point ( when massage starts) when Joanne heart beat rate is 83 and 30 represents the minutes after starting point(after 30 minutes her beat rate is 63). (x1=0, y1=81 and x2=30, y2=63)
We know that the slope equation is:
m = y1-y2/x1-x2
m=81 -63/0-30
m=18/-30 = -3/5
m= -3/5
the rate of change in her heart rate is -3/5 (3 beats less every 5 minutes)
