Question 38287: dear online tutor,
i'm having trouble graphing problems such as y=2x-5 and problems like y<2x+1. can you help me or at least give me some examples
Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=2x-5
Use slope-intercept form where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
graph the point (-5) on the y-axis .... then, go 2 units up and 1 to the right (use the slope: 2/1) or you go two units down and one unit to the left (use the slope: (-2)/(-1))
for y<2x+1 .... graph the line as dotted and shade beneath the line (hence, < means less than)
