Question 36868: -6x+9>3
what does the graph look like for this?

Answer by martinr(6)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-6x + 9 > 3. You need to solve for x and then graph the solution on the numberline. You can identify whether the point on the line is a solid or an open circle. Since the inequality symbol is Greater than, the circle is open (not filled in). In order to be a closed cirlce, the inequality needs to also be EQUAL TO.
First, subtract 9 from both sides.
Next, divide by -6. ** When you multiply or divide with a negative, then you need to reverse the inquality symbol.
-6x + 9 > 3
- 9 -9
-6x > -6
Divide with a -6
x < 1 Switch the inequality symbol.
On a number line, put an open circle @ 1, and shade to the left of 1.
<-------0
-2 -1 0 1 2 3
