Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x-5y>10
Just solve the inequality as you are solving an equation with =. There is absolutely no difference. Keep on putting the < or >. till the end.
..
However when you multiply or divide both sides of the equation by a negative sign the inequatlity reverses.
For example
-2x > 8
to get value of x
we divide by -2
-2x/-2 < 8/-2
x<-4 ( The sign has reversed)
Similary for multiplication with a negative number.
..
Your problem
2x-5y>10
add -2x to both sides
2x-2x-5y> 10-2x
-5y>10-2x
divide by -5
-5y/-5 < 10/-5 -2x/-5 ( the sign has reversed)
y<-2+(2/5)x
y<(2/5)x-2
...
Find the value of y for 3 or more values of x
The line will be a dotted one. All values below the line are solutions to the inequality. because y < than something.
