Think about the number line.
To the letf of zero, we find negative numbers; to the right of zero, we find positive numbers.
As negative numbers get closer to zero (numbers traveling to the right), they get bigger. This means that -5/2 is bigger than -3 because it is closer to zero.
We write this as: -3 < -5/2 or -5/2 > -3
