When finding the solution region in an systems of inequality problem just remember than there are four signs that can occur:
less than: dashed, left
greater than: dashed, right
less than or equal to: solid, left
greater than or equal to: solid, right
You can tell the reason for the directions by just looking at an ordinary number line. Plot 1 for example all numbers less than 1 are to the left and all greater are to the right.
The reason for the dashed vs. solid is to include or not include that line in the answer.
