Answer by mukhopadhyay(490)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y= x^2-4x-5
=> y = x^2-2*2x+4-4-5
=> y = (x^2-2*2x+4)-4-5
=> y = (x-2)^2-9
The above is in y=a(x-h)^2+k form where a=1, h=2, and k=-9
