Question 30575: Find equation, in standard form, of the line perpendicular to 3x - 6y =9 and passing through (-2, -1)
Answer by Cintchr(481)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
put in y=mx+b format
Divide by -6

since the slope (m) is +1/2 the slope of the line that is perpendicular to it is -2/1. Use this and the point to find the next line.

Solve for b
subtract 4
go back to y=mx+b with your slope and b values
put back into Ax+By=C (standard) format

Look at those nice right angles
