The slope/intercept form is y = mx + b where y and x are variables and m and b are constants. To change to the standard form move all terms to the left side of the equation.

y = mx + b
becomes
-mx + y - b = 0

You may see the standard form written as ax + by + c = 0 where x and y are variables and a,b, and c are constants.

The equation to a line in the slope and y-intercept form is given by
y =(m)x +b ----(1)
where m is the slope of the line and b is the y- intercept
(1) implies 0 = (m)x-y+b (taking y from the left to the right)
That is (m)x-y+b =0
which is the equation to a line in the general standard form:
Ax+By +C=0
