Question 290560: What is the standard form of this problem? containg the point -3,-6 and perpendicular to the graph of 4x+3y=5
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-3,-6 and perpendicular to the graph of 4x+3y=5
4x+3y=5
3y=-4x+5
y=-3x/4+5/3 (red line) This line has a slope=-3/4.
A perpendicular line will have a slope=4/3.
Y=mX+b
-6=4/3*-3+b
-6=-4+b
b=-6+4
b=-2 ans. for the Y intercept.
y=4x/3-2 (green line) is the line equation that is perpendicular to y=-3x/4+5/3 through the points (-3,-6)
Proof:
(graph 300x300 pixels, x from -10 to 10, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions -3x/4 +5/3 and 4x/3 -2).
