Question 28758: with linear equations i have trouble graphing i only thing i can remember is y=mx+b i can get the x i just can't get the b i have trouble.
so how do you get the b in the equation?

Answer by Lal(16)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In the 'y= mx + b' form, m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept (the point on the graph where the line goes through the y-axis).
For example, if I have:
y = 2x + 3
I would graph the '3' as a point (0,3), since it is on the y-axis. Then, use the slope (2/1) to graph the other points. This 2/1 (2 over 1) is rise/run (rise over run). That means I will graph a point up 2 and over to the right 1 from the point (0,3). Then take the opposite of this slope (-2 over -1) and go down 3 and over to the left one from the point (0,3).
