Pick a number for either one of the variables. It doesn't matter which variable, and it doesn't matter what number you pick (although small integers generally make the arithmetic easier). Substitute that selected value for the variable you chose, then do the arithmetic to find the value of the other variable that results. Then create your ordered pair (x, y). The value of x ALWAYS comes first (that's why they call it an ORDERED pair)
