2(x-1)+5x=23
Take the 2 and multiply it by the x and -1 in the parenthesis
2x-2+5x=23 Now add the like terms together; the x's
2x+5x=7x
7x-2=23 Take the 2 and add it to the other side of the equation
7x =25 Now take 7 and divide it by both sides so you get x by itself
x=25/7
